I even contacted their help desk via email and got first uninstall and reinstall the app. If that doesnt work, consider using a different device
First of all, of course I tried uninstall/reinstall. And really? I should get a new phone so the hotels.com app works? I replied that Id already completed this steps multiple times including a shutdown in between the uninstall/reinstall. And I got this gem in return:

We would like to inform you that this is the steps on how you will refresh your Hotels.com app. Touch and hold the app that will not open until it starts to wiggle, and then tap the X icon in the corner if youre still experiencing difficulty. Tap "Delete" to remove the app completely and all its data from your IPhone. Tap the "App Store" from the home screen and locate the app to reinstall.
Really???
Useless app. Useless tech support.
